Default How is a RX65 that much better than a RX55?

Except for the Smartplug that comes with the RX65, to the Corded plug that comes with the RX55, which has nothing to do with it detection capabilities, the only difference is the Radar Receiver/Detector Type.

    RX65 - Radar Receiver / Detector Type
    Superheterodyne, GaAs FET VCO

    RX55 - Radar Receiver / Detector Type
    Superheterodyne, VTO

Just how much better can the GaAs FET VCO technology be to the VTO technology?

Do your homework, my boy. A RX55 is a Vector series, as it is the same exact detector as a Vector 895.

    HappyA$$ is right:

-The RX-55 uses the "M2" platform/receiver, the same as the Escort Solo S2, the BEL Express series, and the Escort 7500S.

    -The RX-65 uses the "M4" platform/receiver, like the X50, 9500i, and BEL Vectors (V940, V955, V965, V995, and the old no longer sold V895).

The "M4" is significantly more sensitive than the "M2".

Also, the "Receiver Types" have been listed incorrectly in the specs for a long time now. The RX-65 does NOT have a "GaAs FET VCO", the VCO uses bipolar transistors. Not sure on the RX-55. "VCO" and "VTO" are basically the same thing. For the most part, you can consider this stull to be marketing jargon instead of an accurate representation of the receiver type.

Thank you for your detailed explaination.

Actually I own the no longer sold V895, not the RX55. I was told in this forum that my V895 is the same detector as the RX55. Evidently from what you are saying, that information was incorrect. By reading the specs in Beltronics manual section the V895 is the same detector as the V955.

Would that be correct, jimbonzzz ?

Oh btw, I see you are starting your boy off young.
