    Default Opinions.... Stealth or Auto-dimming?

Just been working on this and wanted to get some input, in particular what is more important in a mirror, a stealth install or auto-dimming? My dilema is that I can do one or the other but not both as the glass has to be swapped to get the 100% disappearing display (vanishes completely when the V1 is off).

Most new cars have a small display like that in there mirrors, even the same color. So no one will be the wiser.

Most of the ones I have worked with that have a compass or thermometer display have it in a cutout, there seem to be bery few that show through the mirror however I agree, it wouldn't look obvious the way it is presented in the video. The limitation however is that to make that mirror I had to replace the glass so now it has the hidden display but is no longer auto dimming.

Can you leave where the light sensor is clear on the mirror so it will work?

The glass is two-way so light still gets through to the brightness sensor, I am still testing materials particularly with regard to what impacts the brightness the most. I can force the display to always be at the maximum brightness but that is then too much at night.

This mirror is a generic Gentex one, I am also testing a Lamborghini glass for which I used a different process and I think it was brighter although this one is still quite readable. I took a drive with it in bright sunshine today and could still see it clearly.

If you're interested in doing some testing I might make up a prototype that has the V1 and 9500ci displays in it.

Let us know how it works out. I wont be running my V1 and 9500ci, but could this be done with a Redline and 9500ci?

Afraid so... unless it can be extended and I very much doubt that.
