As I am replacing my Escort 8500 with the V1 and I already have a hidden power wire going up to the rear view mirror area will this connector fit the V1 and will the polarity be the same? The 8500 uses the telephone type connector.

Do I understand that the hard wired rather than the supplied cigarette lighter power does not have the ability to mute nor change modes, why is that? Can it ever be hooked up to work because I do not want the coil wire going up across my windshield?
I have just the basic hardwire from my escort. What about the supplied hardwire from the V1, will mute and modes work with it?
Not sure what bear is talking about my mute works fine!
