Random Ka

Everyonce in a while I get a seemingly random Ka alert. Its always 1 bar on the scale and never stays for longer than 10 seconds.

The only exception is it happens everytime I come home from work, it alerts in the EXACT same spot every time, neither my X50 or my friends X50 pick it up. Yesterday it alerted Ka but J'd it out right away, as soon as I saw the J I looked for any sign of a cobra or uniden, but there wasnt anyhting at all, and this happened in the same spot that always sets it off.


I have 3.851 and am wondering if the 3.861 is having problems. With the laser falses and now this Ka thing I may be sending the V1 in for a check up.

Either there is a parked car with a Crapra in that location, or a satellite dish. There's one dish near a grocery store that causes a Ka false on my V1, but it's very brief and only one dot in strength.

the J doesn't always work. I was going down a rural interstate last week. I passed a car and started getting KA rear. I thought it might have been a cop entering the interstate behind me. I slowed down to see whats going on. When the car I just passed passed me the KA stopped. I noticed its the car with an RD on its windshield. I passed it again and got in his lane. V1 went off and J'ed the alert. I restarted the V1 a couple of times and most of the times it J out immediately, but on one other occasion it stayed on for a while.

If you find yourself alongside someone that is causing you to J you can see how it works by restarting the the V1.

I had the same thing, and it turned out to be a Sheriff's car parked at a convenience store, and it would happen the same day, every day. I finally noticed it because it was parked in a different parking spot more visible from the road. Same doughnut break same time of day, for several days in a row. I didn't see the Sheriff's car before because the building was blocking my view.

Crapras will not always be "J" ed out. It they pollute badly enough, it will override the false alarm guard. That is what it is designed to do.

If the X50 is missing it, that is because your V1 is more sensitive than those X50s, or the X50 won't respond to bursts that short (like quick triggering).

Definitely a Crapra... Make sure you have POP disabled.

If you send yours in, you won't get 3.861 - you will get 3.858. 3.861 is a hardware upgrade that will cost $75. Not worth it - especially with the X bug that some of them have.

Defanitaly not a cobra, the spot it goes off at is a deserted Land Rover dealership.

It may be a satelite dish, but wouldnt the other RD's pick it up along with the V1?

Now my V1 is getting K ghosting problems, I am gonna send it back to VR and hopefully they will be able to fix any problems that may be wrong with it.

I was heading to familys house today and got a rear K hit that went from 1 signal to 4 then back down and back up again. He followed me for a while with constant K on and was maybe 1/4 mile back, I turned around when I could and when he was comming at me I only got one K signal.

It's possible that your V1 is out of spec?

Bump, I get a very weak KA alert with my V1 with my Directv dish. Never tried Ku.

Same thing happens to me all the time, except my Ka alerts seem to J out more often than not. Do you have POP off? The guys here told me to try it which I am going to do starting tomorrow.
