    Default Valentine Consealed Display Question

Thinking about purchasing a Valentine Consealed Display, for the main purpose of having the Mute Button closer to me...within arms distance.

Currently, I have to reach up to the windshield area to press the button, which is inconvenient.

Question: With the Valentine Consealed Display, is it possible to "still" have the lights (indicators) display on the main Valentine Radar Detector...and use the Consealed Display only for the Mute Button?

or does the Consealed Display eliminate the lights on the main unit?

    Thanks

    Dave

    You have a couple of choices;
    1. Make your own mute button. Search the groups, their are detailed instructions as well as the correct PIN outs.
    2. By a remote mute button from eBay.

You don't need the concealed display just to serve as a remote mute button. When you plug in the concealed display, the V1 will be put into 'dark' mode (no lights).

PM me if you can't find the instructions.

I went through something like this when I got my concealed display. I wanted a "slave" display for the gauges as well as the main unit by the RWM. But, I found out the concealed display blacks out the main unit by default.

I have the older concealed display that has an on/off switch but no mute button or band ID, it's smaller so it fits in my ashtray.
My favorite V1 place is on the visor, mute button right there, up high, out of site, LEO's and theives don't see it, hidden behind tint but laser still alerts.

    .

I like my new conc. disp., but I didn't even know about the old ones with the on/off switch. I wouldn't like it, but I could see how it would be very useful to some people.

There is a way to build a switch to toggle between the concealed display and the V1 itself. By doing this, you don't have to unplug the concealed display to switch between the controls & lights on the V1 or the controls & lights on the concealed display - it will be either or - can't have it both ways. If anyone is interested, let me know and I'll dig out the schematic(s).

I assume it's just a switch that "cuts" the cord to the conc. disp. Am I right?

Yeah. You only have to cut the 12v+ that powers the concealed display. I forget which one out of the four on the pin. I can look it up and let you know.

I'm new so at the risk of asking a dumb question, can I attach a PDF to this thread? If so, how?
