Serial Number, Software Version, Manufacturing Date - The Definitive Answer

I was wondering if a 3.863 purchased in '07 needs an update to 3.872 or tune up? If the V1 is out of tune would it be overly obvious?

How come no one knows at all what these software version updates actually update?

I think from 3.85X to 872 they say it's the latest version on the site, but I think there are minor programming changes in regards to j-outs, heat reduction, etc.

But what is with the HUGE discrepancy, particularly in 33.8 Ka and 35.5 Ka between the 3.863 and the 3.872 in the latest GOL test ??? http://www.guysoflidar.com/radar-det...rld-tests.html

Could it be a problematic unit that was being used? I mean plenty of other detectors topped it out.

Mine just stop picking up a band completely when they're needing to go in for service. In the last decade this has happened twice, so about every 5 years.

I had a wiring question which I subsequently figured out myself but was transferred to an engineer when I confused the lacky answering phones. So ask a bunch of question and get re-directed, the engineers might actually give you some information.

BTW The engineer I spoke to was named "Mike". I was excited until I received the email from him and it wasn't the prophet Mike.

Called and got the lady again. I didn't care. I told her I wanted to upgrade s/w revisions to newest because of heard of improvements on performance. She said there are small changes but it'll cost 139$. That's friggin bs. "We don't have any upgrade offers at the moment." I asked how about a tune up, and she said $45.

I wonder if I do the tune up, I'll get back 3.872 or 3.. lol. I'm not seeing any of the customer service that many have praised VR about. To me customer service means not charging 139$ for a small update, but rather something more in the sanity range.

Man now i think selling and getting new one would end up cheaper.
