Well it has finally arrived. I am ready to put it to good use. I drive from central California through Reno Nevada once a week. It appears that to start off with I should turn off POP and X band. Is there anything else that should be done?

I personally have X band and pop turned off and as much K band muting as possible for use in SoCal:

I turned off the Ka filter and made the Ka signal strength bar more responsive. I get a "J" alert from this every blue moon but in Ohio it seems to help more than anything.
Possibly, I ran it in this mode in Dayton. My daily commute is on the back roads and though the TippCity, Troy and Vandalia area. So there is really not many falses. Also, I usually keep it in "L" mode to knock out excessive "X" alerts. Can not turn X off because the highway patrol still has a hard on for those units.
Im in Folsom, I run X off, Ka 30 sec stay 6. I did have the filter off for a while, never got a false but the ramp up is just too quick. I like to know how far off the LEO is, with the filter off its like a freakin laser detection.
You guys are confusing section (6) arrow down Ka guard off makes way too many falses
with section (5) arrow down (more response with the signal strength meter)
mountainman means K band 30 sec stay 6 (not Ka)
I have the Ka guard off, with section ( 5 ) arrow down. I use to use the little " l " mode but the "X" alerts were overwelming. I do use "A" mode on the back roads but going through cities I use the "L" mode to knock out falses. I normally run into "Ka" and "X". Followed by "K" and then laser. So far, it has worked for me - well that and a wife with a lot of cleavage.
