a tune should be $45...an upgrade in rev should be $85 with no hardware change right?
I'm just happy I made the right decision last week...
I'd probably get sick of people like me calling. Let's cut the folks at V1 a little slack. I think the service is great. I was going to upgrade as well and when I found out about the price, I decided to sell and start over, but I didn't give them a hard time.
That was me.
I bought a used 3.813 that wasn't working properly.
Sent it in to V1 with the request to tune and upgrade the unit to the latest spec.
When I got it back, I was surprised it was 3.871 since the bunch of other V1's I ordered not long before (days) were 3.864's
And that's when I reported the new version to the board.
Mine is in right now under warranty and I don't ahve to pay anything. A technician named Michael called me today and told me that he wasn't able to reproduce the situations that I had described so he ran a bunch of tests with previous revisions, all with the same result. He said that the ghosting that I was talking about was because it was getting overloaded with a strong radar source.
He said if I like he could reflash it to 3.863 from 3.864. I said that I'd prefer that as long as there isn't a decrease in sensitivity or anything - I never had any problems with 3.863 so I'll just use that until a major upgrade comes out.
I talked to them and they told me there are NO UPGRADES...
they are only usig a different board.
..so i don't inderstand why they would charge. However, the lady(manger) there did tell me that everything is the same as the 3864 and if i wanted 3871,then they would have to replace that board and it is totally unecessary and would even incur a charge...
Well thats one expensive board. I mean damn it would cost me $139 to have my .812 upgraded to .871 and they would be adding alot of stuff, but to upgrade from .864 to .871 and still be charged the same price for nothing and all you get is a new board which is exactly the same as the .864 board is outrageous, especially when upgrading to the newest firmware supposedly
only cost $85 if your unit is new, which mine was only 16 days old.
A year ago, I sent it my 3.818 for a "tune-up" after several cold winters here in Michigan and several hot days in the summers inside the car. I included a 45.00 money order for the "tune-up". Within a week, I had the unit returned, upgraded to 3.819, tuned up, AND the money order returned with the unit!
Nice customer service!
