I really like this idea. I wish I had thought of it! haha.... I used to do a lot of work with small SMT electronics, and I would like to do this mod on my own remote display... but I have no idea where to locate those exact smt L.E.D.s.
Very nice pics. I had not even realized that the V1 had all red leds until I seen this thread, yet I used to own a Cobra detector many years ago that had about ten l.e.d.s in color from green to yellow to red showing the strength of the signal. This was so many years ago that Cobra actually had one of the best detectors, then came Bell, V1 and the rest that quickly out did the Cobras. I wonder if it's just cheaper to stick with one color of l.e.d.s during manufacturing?
Really great modification. I have a difficult time differentiating the bands at night and something like this would be perfect!

Wow thats really nice! Could you PM me how much it would cost do this and ship it to Calgary. I can't PM you unfortuntely because my post count is low. I just got my V1. I recently had an Escort 8500. Thanks
You'll definitely be modding mine once I buy it next month. This is great stuff.
I would venture I guess in the next few weeks.
update on first page,
Thanks
Really great work on the color display! Looks and functions perfectly. Quick turn-around (less than 1 week total, including shipping there any back). I'm really glad I finally decided to get this done.
