yeah. total BS. Like I'm not bummed out it didnt work! I've been waiting like a kid waiting for Xmas, and even drove to the post office to pick it up since I wasnt there when it came to my place. Opened it in the parking lot of the post office, programmed it, and drove off to test. It failed miserably, but somehow that was my fault?
Anyway...what are the two prices again for the V1's direct from Valentine? $399 for a new unit plus shipping and how much for a refurb shipped?
Opinions ?
I think you have to "get in line" for a refurb one.
I would also get the concealed display, a carry case and make a kill switch for it.
very true LordV
If I fall in love with the V-1 enough to sell my 9500i, then I'll run a hardwire in place of my Escort hardwire and worry about concealed displays etc. later on.
First I need to make sure its what I want to use daily. I pass a lot of falses several times a day...so it'll be a tough sell as much as I'm looking forward to using it.
well I don't use the lockout feature of my 9500i so that wouldnt really matter.
Im just talking about the higher sensitivity and better off axis detection causing more falses. We'll see I guess. But if I was mostly highway like you, there'd be no question for me!
Too bad they don't make a blue LED V1!![]()
What are the prices for refurbs?
If you can shut down X, it's alot quieter. I only engage X when I leave Michigan for Indiana or Ohio. With X off, I'm in "A" mode all the time. When X is on, I use "l" in the city. My tolerance for falses is low and my wife is not in my car very often. You'll probably either love it or hate it. If you hate it, do everyone a favor and don't run around slamming it simply because it does not fit your tastes, like a few individuals that troll the V1 forum.![]()

Definately plan on shutting off X. But there are lots of K falses around New England.
I dont plan on trolling, just giving my honest opinion. If I can't take the falses, I'll hold on to my 9500i and that'll be the end of it. I honestly think that the 9500i is a great detector...I just think many of its features (on top of detection) fall short. Marked locations suck, AutoVolume sucks, AutoMute sucks, and I can't use TrueLock...so I use it for detection alone.
I do think its a preference thing and has a lot to do with where you drive most often.
