Who had Hardware version 1.8 , software version 3.789? Just got my first v1?

I just got my first V1 and i had a escort 9500i. I took the V1 to a place where there is a K-band traffic enforcement sign. And the V1 seems to have a much lower sensitivity to the sign as compared to my old 9500i. I have it level in the middle of the windshield. I have it programmed with X-band off and in All-bogey mode. I am currently running it with a ZR3 laser shifter, cheetah mirror and veil coating. I just dont seem to detect as much stuff as my 9500i did. Does anybody know what the deal is with this problem. Even when i am going to wal-mart the v1 stays quiet. No annoying alerts to door openers or anything. Is the attenna crappy or do i just got to send it in?

Make sure it's not mounted behind a metallic tint strip and send it in to VR for a check-up.

Its mounted in the middle of my windshield so there is no tint there. It powers up as usual. just wondering if maybe the circut board is messed up. I took it apart and took a look at it , there were no burn marks or heated componets that i could see. Even the CPU seemed fine. But what is the cost that is incurred when its sent off to V1?

First off, please don't open up radar detectors -- the electronic components are extremely sensitive to ESD and often times an inept attempt to open it will damage the alignment and positioning of mechanical components. This is a precision high-sensitivity superheterodyne receiver, not your laptop. Not to mention it can void your warranty.


But back to your original question, no, the V1 should absolutely NOT have lower K-band sensitivity compared to the 9500i; your unit is likely defective. I'd send it back to VR for examination, under warranty.

Well he didnt actually SAY one way or the other if he got it used or if he got it direct. Since hes asking about cost, and that the rev is WAY over a year old, my assumption was that he got it used. The cost to send it in is $45. If it is going to cost more then that they will contact you first, however it rarely costs more then that, only if there is a major issue. VR will take good care of you. My guess is its used and its just "out of tune".

I agree with jdong about not opening up the RD, I've been a tech for 10 years and have all the equipment needed for working on circuit boards and things and still would want to open my V1, under warranty or not, I will always leave that for VR to take care of for me.

However, again, I don't think the unit in question is under warranty.

3.789 sounds pretty new; and VR rarely randomly swaps old units for the latest revision just because users felt like it!

The one in my sig is 4 or 5 years old, so no, 3.789 does not sound very new at all. Check out the sticky thread in this section, there are revision lists and it only STARTS with my revision from 5 years ago. I think its old and just needs to be serviced.

I have a 9500ix and a V1 3.864.

The V1 is a little better than the 9500ix on Ka band and a lot better K Band.

I think your V1 has a problem.
