    Default SPEEDTRAP

Will the V1 alert to the so called SPEEDTRAP that 9500ix will do?
I didn't understand if speedtraps were a gps thing or actual radar.

No, the V1 by itself will not alert to speed traps. It does not have GPS. Cheetah makes something similar to incorporate into a V1.

No it does not but the valentine is a better performing detector. But the 9500ix is a much more user friendly detector too though. Its all in what you want and don't want and how it weighs out and what your willing to sacrifice. Both detectors have advantages and disadvantages but its all in what you want as performance is close to the same. Like arrows over gps etc. etc. etc

In the context you are utilising, "speedtrap" is a GPS thing. It is a location marked with GPS as an area of known speed enforcement activity, whether as an occasional manned trap, or a speed camera. You get this alert whether there is a trap actually there or not. If there is a trap actually there, and it is radar based, then it will show up with a V1. If there is a camera there, but it is not radar based (road sensors), then the V1 will not pre-alert you to it.

If you want radar detection, buy a radar detector. If you want GPS alerts, buy a GPS device. I'm not sold on the mixing of the two into one device.

I'd say both in one unit works quite well.

Ok djrams80 since you have used both the V1 and the 9500ix which would you say is better if you don't mind the beeps and want the best sensitivity for highway driving (ie, Hills and Curves), and I/O radar. Thanks

The V1 is more sensitive. There's no doubt about that. If you don't mind false alerts, the V1 is the better choice for radar protection. The 9500ix is only a better choice for those people(or their passengers) that have a problem with false alerts of have RLCs and/or speed cameras in their area. The fact that you live in Kentucky, not LA like myself, probably means that your false alerts are not near as many as mine.

Edit: My woman hates my V1 and loves my 9500ix. Maybe something else to consider.

I suspect that's pretty common. I personally prefer the V1 but I'd get the better half the 9500ix.
