Just got my V1, My Thoughts...

Just received it today and installed it right away.

I noticed that the case is plastic, I have the impression that it was made of metal. Does everybody have the same thing or this is a newer version and its not that big comparing it to my previous X50. I always thought that it was huge.

Anyways this thing picks up every signal it can, I mean everything the closer I get to the city where there is alot of buildings and houses X and K band always going off and when I'm on the open highways this thing is quiet. I also wish that there is less false on the K band.

The V1 already picks up 3 laser scatter from what, the're is no LEO in sight and its not that sunny.

Does the V1 has a City or Highway mode like the Escort? I have been seeing some post in other forums about Logic and Advanced Logic mode, is this thing similar to City and Highway? Could someone explain this.

How can you program it to logic or advance, I went over to V1 site and could not find it there only how to reprogam your V1.

The mount is also good, comes with extra suction cups small and large.

When I get home I will try to get the software version

It's a lot smaller than the pictures look.

You can progran K-Band alert supression. I suggest that.

Some GM SUV's third brake light causes them and Infinity's Laser Cruise Control.

Little and big L's are like City settings. I suggest you read the stickies at the top of the V1 section.

The sun isn't the only source for false laser alerts. Here a list of what can cause a false laser alert:

1. Red Neon Signs in stores
2. Third brake light of Chevy Trailblazer and GMC Envoy
3. Cruise control system of some cars (Infiniti FX especially)

Here is Mike Valentine's explanation:

In the All-Bogeys® (A) mode, all bogeys will be reported
as soon as they are detected. Use your judgment to decide
whether or not they are threats.

In the Logic® (little L) and Advanced-Logic® (big L) modes, you are
deferring to the internal computer which will use its own
logic to screen bogeys before reporting them to you.

In Logic, X-band bogeys the computer judges to be
non-threatening will be reported at the “muted” volume. If
they become threatening, the audio warning will upgrade
to the “initial” volume before you are within radar range.

In Advanced-Logic, X-band bogeys that the computer has
reason to believe aren’t radar will not be reported at all.
One exception: To be failsafe, the computer will always
pass extremely strong signals along for your judgment.
This mode is particularly useful in metro areas.

The case is magnesium, not plastic. Magnesium is light weight metal, so the V1 isn't that heavy. It is smaller than it looks in pictures, and is smaller and lighter than the X50.

I ordered the color concealed display, kinda hard to read which band is on, with the color I can tell which one.

Although the laser has a very unique tone. you can tell right away.

I'm enjoying mine new V1 too. The Color display is much easier to see the radar band. I modified mine earlier this week.

Just to point out, X/K band "falses" from door openers are NOT "falses" per se -- if you detector doesn't alert to a door opener, it won't alert to a police officer at the same location with the same transmit power level -- those signals are indistinguishable.

The good thing about the V1 is that its ramp-up (signal strength indication) is incredibly linear and you can use signal strength along with the bogey counter to evaluate a threat before taking drastic measures -- it won't be before the signal is COMPLETELY pegged that you would be at risk for getting a ticket. This usually gives you on the order of 30+ seconds to make a good decision for door openers whether or not you should slow down.
