    Default V1 Windshield mount "locking"

I purchased a V1 and of course own the windshield mount. My question (and it will sound dumb!):

Is the V1 supposed to be able to lock in place on the mount? Specifically when the V1 on the mount at my desired angle, if I push the mute button during an alert the V1 will slide forward on the mount (My desired angel .

It is as if the "tab" on the mount is not catching the notches on the V1. I can't imagine why it would be this way. But wanted to double check. I haven't owned the V1 for more than 2 weeks so I can't see the part wearing out already!

    Thanks

It will slide forward freely, but not backward IIRC. Just squeeze the detector's front and mute button together when you mute so it won't slide forward anymore.

The front of the V1 has a rubber stopper above the front antenna, once that hits the windshield, the V1 should be locked and should not move anywhere, even if you hit the mute button.

The rubber on the V-1 shouldn't slide on the windshield (assuming it is in contact)
    Clean both surfaces with glass-cleaner.

You may be pushing the button at a slight up-angle. A slgiht down-angle will put more pressure on the rubber and resist sliding

I should have specified...I'm using a Blendmount with the hardwired V1 so my RD is currently hanging below my rear view mirror (I know lots of people disagree with this because it advertises your V1 to the world).

With the Blendmount, the V1 can be adjusted so it is level...and if it is pushed as far forward as possible (towards the windshield), it obviously can't travel any further when I mute. But...I was wondering if it was possible to slide the B1 backwards so it is flush with the RVM and just a few inches closer to me (I have short arms).

But it sounds as if this is the way the mount is designed. No issue, really. I can still reach the V1 controls, just not as easily (and it really isn't bad anyways), and the V1 is still pointed straight ahead.

Thanks for all the responses. Regardless...I'm still very happy with the V1. She saved me 3 times south of Binghamton last weekend. NY State Police were surging for certain.

I am also using a BlendMount and there is no way to prevent the detector from sliding backward in the mount if it is not making contact with the windshield. My V1 stays all the way back in the mount. Sorry....

Thanks for the photo. At least it's just not me, right?

Right, I've just learned to live with my V1 all the way back. Still works great and looks good. You can try to move the BlendMount forward on the mirror stem a bit...

You're actually supposed to move the Blendmount forward if you want to make that type of an adjustment.
