Default New to the V1 scene

Hey guys. Just upgraded from a cobra to a v1 sn 2.879. So far I am loving this thing. Bought it on eBay with all the accessories. Got it hardwired and mounted at the top of the windshield. Really the only problem I'm having is with the programing. I have set the unit to automute K band. For some reason it will only mute in small l and not L. Other than this small annoyance I'm in love with the v1. I'm glad I found this place and have already learned some stuff from you guys.

    Nice ghost free software.

When using advanced logic mode automute is working you just don't know it unless you are counting your chosen time threshold because all the LED's and both volume knobs are disabled until you break a strength or time threshold, making it unknown how long the thresholds have been in process.

Thanks for the welcome guys! I have wanted one for awhile now but price was an issue. Gotta love flea bay! Lol.

As for the K muting, I have it set for 20 seconds but it seems that it picks up K signals right way, same time that logic or all picks them up. Only it doesn't mute them. I'll have to pay attention on my drive today now that I know what's supposed to be happening lol.

Double check the programming, and make sure that the 4 and 6 light threshold is set as well for extreme muting.

Also, you might want to send the unit to Valentine for a check up since it is an older version.

    Welcome aboard !

The 2.879 is actually the software version of the unit. The serial # is on the back.

I do recommend sending the unit for an upgrade.

i'm in MI, so no X-band to worry about unless i wanna know where all the automatic doors are at, so i turned that off. the muting seems to be working now that I know it doesn't show up at all in L.

was surprised it didnt go off today though. got on the free way and right around the corner were 3 cop cars in the center median. one cop was out of the car pointing his radar/laser (not sure which) at traffic. it's a construction zone and there was traffic so everyone was going 55 (speed limit is 60). pretty pointless to be radaring people. anywaz, V1 never went off until i was past them a ways, then showed Ka band behind me. Figure it was instant on and he wasn't using it the whole time.

earlier today it went off infront of me Ka band. cops usually sit along this stretch of freeway(same one as above) so i thought i knew where he was at. turns out he was on the oppisite side of the road completely hidden behind the bridge. LOVE THE RANGE ON THIS THING!! now that i have the arrows and counter, how could i go back? lol

on upgrading / tuning the unit up, i'm content right now. thinking of possibly upgrading the unit next year or the year after.
