    Default Remote audio module question

I relocated the knob from the unit ala' rebinc and I also relocated the little speaker in the unit. The connections look good, it powers up the way it should, changes from A to L to l like it should but the power-up beeps still come from the main unit plus I can hear a faint tone coming from the remote speaker.

When it boots I hear a loud "Beep, Beep" then a very muted "beep, beep" and the last tone loud.

I guess I need to do a dorr opener test.

    Any input on this?

The remote audio unit doesn't turn off the V1's speaker. You have to turn the V1's volume down if you don't want to hear its audio.
When it boots I hear a loud "Beep, Beep" then a very muted "beep, beep" and the last tone loud.
This is normal. The second "beep beep" sounds at the muted volume level. Use the mute volume lever to adjust.

    The V1's bootup sounds are:

    1. 1 X beep, 1 K brap at normal level
    2. 1 X beep, 1 K brap at muted level
    3. Laser tone, at normal level

I believe when the settings are changed in programming mode then 1 of the beeps is muted.

Can you take some pics of where you put the knob and speaker?

Also, when you mount the knob do you drill a hole, if so how big to make sure the knob works correctly?

I've never heard of this. The only indication of programming changes is the display (the "P" with flashing LED patterns).

The power-up ritual always plays two beeps unmuted, two beeps muted, then the laser tone.

Hmmm, my "muted" volume is REALLY low even with the volume knob all the way up. The muted volume sounds through the remote adapter.

I'll have to look into it...

How are your knobs set, on both the V1 and the remote audio module?

If you don't want any audio from the V1 itself, turn the knob all the way down on the V1 (but not so far that it clicks off).

The main volume is controlled by the knob. The muted volume is controlled by the ring tab behind the knob. The muted volume is relative to the main volume, if the ring tab is all the way clockwise, the muted volume will be the same as the regular volume.

The remote audio adapter works the same way, except that the knob and mute ring tab on the adapter controls the volume coming from the remote adapter, not the V1 itself.

To test, start with the V1 volume turned up and the remote audio turned down, or disconnected. Set the mute tab halfway up. Turn on the V1 and listen to the power-up ritual. You should hear the first two beeps at normal volume, followed by 2 more beeps at the muted volume (handy for adjusting levels), followed by the laser tone at normal volume.

Now, turn the main volume knob on the V1 all the way down (but not off) so the V1 itself is quiet, and turn up the volume knob on the remote audio adapter. Set the mute tab on the adapter half way up. Repeat the power-up ritual, and it should sound the same, except that it's coming from the remote audio adapter, and the levels are controlled by the knob and ring on the adapter.

If the volume knob or the mute ring don't function correctly on the remote audio adapter, recheck your wiring from when you relocated the knob.
