Hardwired with the radio fuse, it goes off when I open the car door.

Hardwired with a kill switch so I never use it. I can use my concealed display mute or my remote mute switch to do any programming also.

Me too. When it is On and I crank my car, it will get 2-3 burst of power to the unit while the alternator is cranking the engine. Having an electrical background, I guess Im a little anal with my stuff. Probably wont hurt it, but I just cant stand watching it power On Off On Off On. Bugs me.

Exactly my thoughts except I don't have an electronics background (but I can be pretty anal ).

Wire it to a circuit that cuts out when you crank. Typically an accessory (not ignition) circuit will do this. This will prolong the life of your V1, as electrical surges aren't good for electronics.

Yes, but I installed a switch in the car. I usually keep the volume maxed out so it's a real PITA to turn the knob the whole way quickly while trying to not disturb the mute volume lever.

I turn it off when the car is starting and when I'm driving somewhere with a lot of falses and no risk. I use a circuit that gets interrupted by the ignition but it's still annoying to hear it power on twice. I wish it had a fast startup option..

    Here's a solution for the power-on-twice when starting: http://www.radardetector.net/forums/...power-on+delay
