Smile Buying a new Detector really soon, is the V1 still a great detector?

I just got rid of my 8500x50 S7. That was just an amazing detector. I live in the twin cites MN, drive around most of the day. Mostly city driving, rarley ever on interstate.

I really love the idea of Arrows. I know their is a ton of programming to do and I am up to the task. Thinking about running right out of box for a while to understand it fully, but truning x off. We have no x up here.

I am looking in the 400.00 under price range , and thats a bit of a strech for me.

I just read about the guy who missed the radar with his v1, thats kinda scary. My escort has never missed that I know of.

I do not speed that much at all, just sometimes not paying full attention to my speed.

Was planning on buying a v1 tomorrow? Tell me why I should or not?

    Thanks guys!!

    This is a great forum.

V1 is still an exceptional detector... especially at it's price.
You can spend 100 more and get the RL which is more sensitive to constant on Ka for the most part, yet it is not as reactive as the V1 nor does it have the arrows.

Call up Valentine Research and ask for a returned V1 which is $359 as opposed to spending $399 for a brand new one. It is still the best radar detector you can buy when compared to all detectors that are $500 and under. People still use it as the bar to compare the remote mount detectors to so you know it is an excellent detector.

The V1 is still the standard for reactivity - the ability to quickly and consistently alert to short bursts of radar.

In that situation, he was in little "l" mode, not in "A" mode, and depending on the muted volume level and his attentiveness he could have not noticed an alert. It's also possible that the cop was using laser and wrote radar because he was an idiot, or the cop could have simply been lying, or the V1 was busted.

    Don't let that scare you.

How would you know if a detector missed a shot, unless you were testing it?

I'd give the V1 a shot because it's a great value and the arrows are addictive. I love the arrows on mine, and they prevent me shouting "Where's the cop?" at my passengers.

Be sure to ask for a returned unit (call VR) to stay below your budget.

I live in MN my self I have a V1 you can't go bad with a v1. I tested other detectors out nothing compares to a V1 bad a** machine.

You wont go wrong. v1 gives you 30 days to try it out.

    Guys,

Thanks so much for all the good advice , and so darn quick. I think Supercowpowers is right on the money. Also the 9500ix is close to 500.00? Bit more than I was wanting to spend.
I think I can make the V1 work for me in the city. I did watch the videos of the V1 on youtube with the laser testing wow, the V1 stomps? Where I think they pit a 8500x50 vs V1. When pointing at the 8500x50 the V1 would go off. And somtimes the x50 did not.
