It has K band Traffic Sensor Filtering. Even if your area doesn't use the Traffic Monitors, the feature, when enabled on the V1 is suppose to be effective at rejecting the annoying blind zone alert radar on other cars.

Well I can tell you it is not, at least not for the Mercedes Benz Distronic system, which uses K band.

IMHO the upgrade is not worth it unless you have to deal with the K band traffic sensors. Other than that I see no improvement in K or Ka reception at all. In fact it has totally missed some K band signals, even with the "t" function turned off.

When you disable the traffic monitoring filter, does it then alert?

I looked the the Benz site and I misspoke. It is not the Distronic Cruise Control that causes the K band falses. It is the Blind Spot Assist that emits K band radar. I've seen it on some E350s.

The Blind Spot Assist K band signal is very weak and rear facing. Once you get in front of the Benz the signal gets much weaker and disappears relatively quickly. OTOH, the Distronic Cruise Control is forward facing and longer range. IIRC it uses 77 GHz radar. If the Distronic were causing the false alerts the signal would be much stronger from the front of any Benz equipped with it.

At any rate, I will be sending my V1 to be checked given the erratic K band performance and I will get their answer on this.

About 3 weeks ago I got the latest V1- version 3.893. In fact I bought two- one for the wife as well. She had a 3.812 I think and I had a 3.858.

Yep! since I had mine I can't tell although the laser detector got better on mines. I got some laser hit off of the other driver and then he hit me I couldn't see him at first but when I got closer I did see him shooting laser so that was a save but I really wasn't speeding anyway.
