Just picked up my first V1, need some help please.

Hello everyone.

I just picked up my first Valentine One off of Craigslist. I got it for a great price, serial number is good and not stolen, etc etc. and I plan on upgrading it ASAP, BUT in the mean time I have these questions.

Most importantly, I can not figure out this windshield mount for the life of me. I am beginning to wonder if the windshield mount itself is broken - I can't seem to find any good pictures of the mount itself anywhere on the web, so I'm going to post a few pictures here and you guys tell me what you think.

The radar detector does look a bit scuffed up, it looks as if it had fallen off of his windshield a few times - which would explain the broken windshield mount. When I send it in for an upgrade, will the outer shell of the V1 be new when I get it back? That would be a blessing, but I'm assuming the answer is no.

Anyways, here's the pictures. Tell me what you think.


It is the V1.8-POP2 with Euro Mode. He said he's owned it for seven years (which seems odd as this seems like a newer model)

I actually managed to get it to what seems to be a secure position. The last three pictures show where it is in place. It still doesn't look right to me though, compared to other ones I have seen - perhaps it's just because it's an older model? Also even the brand new suction cups that had never been touched (he gave me the original box and everything that came with it) would not stick to my windshield. This probably all sounds like basic problems, haha, but it's frustrating me.

Any help would be much appreciated! Thank you.

Boy,that V1 looks like it had a very,very rough life of abuse.Laser detection will be affected by that badly scored plastic lens,too.
Can't mount it to the windshield w/o the missing suction cups mounted in the holes on the bracket.
The small thin & form bent metal rod is for mounting into the holes on the suction cups.Its use is for easily peeling the suction cups off of the windshield by rotating the thin metal rod.
Try cleaning your window again & then "lick" the cups to add a light coat of saliva before pushing onto the window.

Upgrades usually get you a brand new looking V1.

go to the valentine one web site click on the drop down on the right top side i think it says shop and order you a set of round clear suckers they will hook to that wire if you dont have no wireing get some and you will be ready
