So does anyone knows how many dots on the strength meter does it take til an LEO captures your speed? I kno the meter has a total of 8 dots...im assuming maybe 6dots would be wen the LEO locks my speed??

I believe any direct hit on your vehicle is going to read as very near if not full signal strength ------ other non direct hits and detection of vehicles ahead/behind being hit and or the refraction of those radar/laser shots are going to vary a great deal in signal strength detected by your unit.
thats a good question that sounds like it has an obvious answer
i would think with 1 dot, on a straight road with no other car he should be able to get your speeed.... but with the v1 that will be miles away!!!
coz if the cop is 1 mile away and he aims at you... it should go to full 8 dots
someone please give a more educated answer![]()
Yeh that would suck if your at 1 dot and your the only car on the road and the LEO locked your speed even tho your like miles away.
but if you had a cobra.... :roll:Originally Posted by xihua

It would be impossible to judge each encounter! 1 dot or 8 dots Im going the speed limit till the encounter is over--![]()
I would say that if V1's strength meter isn't pegged when a cop can get a reading, somthing is wrong.
I can hear it now! Man I was going 90+ and my strength meter was only reading 7dots and I got a ticket, why did that happen?
Has any lab tested the calibration (if there is any) of the meter ? ie each led related to microvolts or -dbm ? Us ham types like to know these things.![]()
