Default Sending V1 In For Service

I purchased my V1 in 2006 and have never sent it in for service. It still seems to work well, but occasionally I'll look up and see that it is displaying an "E" and needs to be restarted.

I typed my serial number into the V1 website and they recommended the V1.85 upgrade that includes ESP and the Traffic Monitor Filter for a cost of $199.

I'm really not looking to spend this kind of money, so I have a few questions. First, are these upgrades necessary and/or worthwhile? The price seems fairly steep at 50% of the price of a new unit. Also, what does V1 typically charge for a general tune-up? I would call them directly, but they are closed for the day so I figured I would check here first.

I haven't been active in the radar detector seen in the last few years and was surprised to see V1 boasting smartphone compatibility. Apparently you can teach an old dog new tricks.

    Thanks for the help.

Wow 8 years old, Yes get the update for sure! You are old hardware/software in that baby lol. They will essentially just replace yours with a NEW one being so old--WELL WORTH the money!!

my V1 stopped working so I sent it in for the $200 v1.85 upgrade considered it a repair/upgrade to justify the cost.

I have 2 other V1 on v1.8. they work fine as I only use Ka band.

I agree. The $200 is well worth the cost since you will end up with an up to date V1 (or new one) that should perform noticeably better than when your old version was new plus with the newest version, you can do a lot of customizing in regards to band segmenting and some other tricks to make it even perform better.

You will end up with a great top performing RD as the below link shows.

I purchased mine in 2008 after going thru the escorts line up back then. I have lost count on how many times its saved me $$$ in possible tickets.
Its performance is stellar but wanted to get the capabilities of the iphone app so into the V1 shop it goes today for the V1.85 upgrade. Cost is $99.00 and includes.

    Traffic Monitor Filter and ESP

Looking forward to getting the unit back.
