A buddy of mine has a Pro 73 and he's very satisfied with it.
He stated that it gave him more then enough time to slow
down. I really like the 73's blue display it's an added bonus
I also know someone that owns a Pro 58 and he likes
his as well.
Yeah, I have a 1793SE, which is the same detection hardware as the Pro-58/73, and it gives more than ample time to react to an alert.
I own the Pro-73 and can say you won't be sorrythe only thing you'll have to get use to is crapras that set it off but not much can be done about that  They should ban cobras

If I had to write a list of complaints, it would be:
(1) Cobra falses: There's two types that affect this detector. The first type are the cobras that emit a constant Ka-band drone (the 11/12-bands do this). This affects all detectors. The second type is blips of K-band, with older Cobra models. Apparently they can be filtered out (some detectors do), but it can also cause rejection of some legitimate police radar usage... You can recognize this behavior if your detector goes off with a weak (1-2) K band alert and immediately stops.
(2) Misidentification of K/Ka-band with strong signals. Very strong K signals like right in front of an automatic door opener sometimes get misidentified as Ka-band. This never happens with police signals though. There's a post somewhere on this forum from a whistler tech that explains exactly why it happens.
That's about all I can come up with![]()

Here's that thread.

i read on this forum t hat whistler is replacing their pro line with the xtr line
is this true?
Nope. The XTRs are already out and the Pro line is still the top of the line for Whistler. The XTRs have been tested and the XTR560 I think it is, the "top" of the XTR line right now was still not as sensitive as the Pro-73.
alrite thats good thanks
i cant wait till i get it, i cant stand the instant on falses i get on my 795
also i just went on circuitcity.com and it looks like theyr gonna start selling the pro 58 and 73 at MSRP though
looks like im going to have to wait 4-7 days
opticsale is out of stock
and so are a couple of other vendors
thats weird
do ppl all of a sudden have a crave for Pro 73s?
