    Default Tested My Pro-73

So I passed a known YOUR SPEED sign on Flitridge Drive today. The sign is on the west side of Flintridge, pointing due north-northeast and shoots K-band.

I was originally westbound on Vickers (see attached map), passing a school baseball field, when I got my first alert. That's .2 miles, which doesn't seem like much until you consider that the ballfield is RIGHT at the top of a STEEP hill, and I got the alert as soon as I crested the hill. And that's with the gun facing perpendicular to my RD's horn antenna, so WAY off boresight.

I continued to receive alerts until I was about .3 miles past the intersection.

So on my way home, I decided to test out the RD on-boresight. I hung a left on Flintridge and drove to Del Paz, where I turned around. Del Paz is about .6 miles from the Your Speed sign, but is around two curves, and significantly uphill from it. Turned around and got back out on Flintridge, headed south. Got nothing at first...this is also RIGHT at the crest of a hill, but blocked by a line of houses and uphill from the sign.

Rounded a turn to head more south-southeast and got a couple seconds of K-band, level 2. That was about .4 miles from the sign. Signal disappeared for a couple seconds, then came back at 4, ramped to 6, then went to full strength about .2 miles from the sign.

With hills and curves, I'll take .4 miles against a weak-signal Your Speed radar any day! Good work for the 73!

This weekend, I'll try going against a construction sign with a radar on it. Little flatter. See if the range improves.

No, but I have heard of stories of high schoolers in powerful cars trying to break the 2-digit barrier, and there happened to be a cop somewhere nearby, and somewhere between the number 89 in a 25mph school zone and the sign starting to blink prompted a pullover and some ticket writing ;-)

    Should have prompted some handcuffing.

The one I played with is in an area with known speed traps. LOL.
