Default What can trigger a POP false alert on the Pro-78

Hey I just got a pro 78 a few weeks ago for my first RDD. I am very pleased with the product very few false alerts and nice pickup range I have a lot of "your speed" signs in my neighborhood plus there are a lot of urban streets so there really is no reason to speed and very little speed enforcment anyway. I use the unit primarily on the GCP which has low limits in areas but little enforcement and pretty much no lidar. Anyway I was driving on the Palisades parkway in jersey last week for work knowing that the road is just a large speed trap its a 50 mph zone because the road is awful in the winter but in good weather you can go 80 mph with no issue nontheless I was going 65 when I get hit with pop K so I slow down I don't see anycops after a few miles so I speed back up. On the way home I was doing about 85 and I get hit with K Pop again, no one was around so I slammed on the brakes but I was sure if a cop was targeting me I was screwed so I slowed down ready to pickup a ticket but no cops at all. I am wondering what could be contributing to these POP alerts is it a door opener or something else.

I'd turn POP off. I'm turning it on for myself here soon, but only because I think the CSPD just started using POP and I want to confirm it. With POP off, your RD will simply give you a normal K-band alert for a POP signal.

I've got them too... Around really inexplicable things, like a large lighted college "WELCOME" billboard. Usually the POP alerts are at very high signal strengths, like K POP 5 or Ka POP 7, and go away instantly with no cops in sight.

For now I've disabled POP too. I am guessing there just happened to be <67ms worth of noise on one of the POP bands.

Yeah I am going to turn off POP tommorow I got a K POP on the Jersey Turnpike today I flipped because I was doing 85 and I know someone that got busted in Jersey the other day 5 points. He had to go to court and got it reduced to 2 points and $230 ticket but he needed a lawyer to argue in court.

Ok, after a bit more investigation and words with Mike B, Cobra detectors are the culprit. Yep, our favorite brand of detectors now comes with POP tester built in!

Wow so its cobra detectors setting them off figures because I should have seen cops at least once, I had it go off 5-7 times actually I think a cop POPed me once in Manhattan because I passed him at an intersection he looked in and saw my detector and a second later Boom a pop alert.

I see..... So, is there anything I can turn off (don't say the whole damn thing) in order to keep the friendly skies free of POP falsies from my King Cobra 38 band megadetector with extreme plamsascreen HD display?

    The display is nice.....

    The display is nice.....
VG2 OFF helps. It turns the constant flurry of POP alerts into 10-second intervals of full-blast Ka. Yay IO simulations.

Done. I turned it on for the ride home. It made the detector a LOT more chatty. I got a POP alert AND a VG-2 alert. Don't know if it's a matter of increased sensitivity or what. None of the alerts were real so it goes back off for me.
