Borrowed my Mother-in-law's car and she happens to have my old XTR-140. Saved from 2 miles out, no less. 85 in a 65, that would've been a big ticket.

Nice ...was it Ka band? Whistler can sniff out weak Ka alerts very well.

Geez, DJ Have you ever owned a Whistler for more than 2 months and have driven around with one more than 1,000 miles? Whistler can detect very brief Ka alerts ( at least the pro 78) I can detect Instant on faint signals at 3 miles. MEM-TEK also agrees the Pro 78 does very well detecting very quick Instant on pulls. I'm just going to go out there and make some videos of distant trigger pulls to give you the real button right backDo you stalk my posts? I have 40,000 miles with REV C platform.
Speaking of sensitivity didn't a 995 beat a V1 on 35.5 Ka on your test ? Sensitivity doesn't always win.

Are we going down this path again? My $130 Whistler gets 2+ mile range on Ka 34.7. My $50 Whistler gets about 1 mile range on Ka 34.7.
Now, may I direct your attention to the last chart on THIS website.
The REV C Platform sniffs out I/O better than the v955, v995, v965, STI, and RX-65.
My time with the SEs was plenty long enough to know how well they detect weak signals.
I'll give you brief, even though I wasn't all that impressed by the Whistler during my quick trigger testing(certainly not V1-like), but faint, no way, unless your definition of faint is different than mine. The Whistlers will not detect any signal that's less than about 4 dots on a V1. If a signal is 4 dots or more on a V1, I personally wouldn't classify that signal as weak or faint.
....which has absolutely nothing to do with weak signals.
Again, quick trigger pulls have zippo to do with weak or faint signals. Make a video where at some distance, your Pro78 will detect a weak C/O signal, but a Vector series Bel or refurb 8500 cannot detect that same signal. That will prove your statement that the Whistler is capable of detecting weak signals.
Nope, but if I see you or anyone else that is making what I believe to be a incorrect statement, I'll call you on it.
Congratulations on that. Based on your vast experience, you also think your Whistler is -108dB on 34.7Ka, which I know they are not capable of.
That is correct. The V1s are known to have tunnel vision on 35.5Ka.
...and none of this has anything to do with detecting weak signals, which was what Jag42 is claiming the Whistlers are good at.
I/O Ka 35.5 @ 1 Mile with "some terrain in between" is rather "weak" in my book. Especially since 35.5 Ka is the hardest to detect.
And once again from one of my previous statements, isn't 1 mile range enough MOST of the time? Especially on I/O? Especially on I/O 35.5? Especially on I/O 35.5 with a $130 RD?
Cobras are notoriously awful at detecting 35.5Ka and even they detected this I/O shot, at this distance, 2 out of 3 times. I wasn't there, so I can't know for sure, but that leads me to believe that this signal was not weak at all.
That's for each person to decide, but value has nothing to do with a detector's ability to detect a weak signal.
It's going to be tough for you three to debate on this because you guys have a different idea as to what a weak signal actually is.
