VR seems to be able to be both incredibly responsive, yet very selective. I'm curious if you know why.

You just might have to modify djrams80's XTR-690SE and the XTR-695SE when he send them back to you to look at. Add a Filter 3, 4 and maybe all the way to Filter 10:D and then send it back to him to test.

I'm curious on Valentine also about the less Ka false alerts. Does Valentine have a patent on Ka falses? I would rather my Whistler chirp every once in a while than not at all. I can live with the falses. I'm working on a demo on Ka falses and communication/Microwave towers i found one that sets off my Pro 78 on Ka band. At least on the SE you can tell if its a false or not by the Ka id frequency. My Pro 78 i have to guess who has the leaky RD or radar source ahead.
Re: Pro 78se 35.5Ka video 9/3/2009
It appears to me V1 uses the J-out to buy more filter time with the ka guard. It alerts quickly to possible LEO ka signals and continues to analyze after alert, thus throwing the j-out flag if it feels the signal is a false from an RD. Belscorts do it differently, analyzing all signals and only reporting if it passes their filtering, thus making them slow in reporting the QT. Whistler has selectable filtering that even on filter 2 still lets some falses thru, and filter 3 4 or 5 would make them like a Belscort. Looks like you cant have your cake and eat it too. I would rather have a few ka9 falses than a silent missed instant on shot, but the V1 has the best package of delivering the best of both worlds no doubt. Hopefully all the brands will continue to improve in this area as Q/T technique continues to be used.

Nice reply and explanation ! Autoquiet will help on the Ka9 false. I'm sure Mike B will come up with a solution or fix in the future.

Not even remotely true. By the time the autoquiet takes effect, the alert is gone. It's too late by then anyhow, because you've probably crammed on the brakes already.
Re: Pro 78se 35.5Ka video 9/3/2009
Would not be so bad but coming on like a point blank instant on shot at level 9 is :eek::eek::eek::eek::mad::mad::mad::mad::mad: :(:(:(:(:(
City mode makes it more tolerable, cause you get 2 beeps and then its gone.
Re: Pro 78se 35.5Ka video 9/3/2009
V1 seems to be the same as Whistler in ka falses with ka guard off.

Looks like while the SE platform is in Ka max mode it scans farther out and picks up every little bitty leak from a Radar detector. Anyway Whistler does a superb job of picking up the weakest or fastest radar scatter especially in flat terrain. I look forward to my SE :D
