Whistler SE Series Radar Detectors

Freebird i told DJ i got a mile forward facing 35.5 from my SE. The leo was parked on a sloped on ramp shooting Constant on and the radar scatter was coming back off of the overpass/bridge. This was on my lunch hour. I did not get to film it. The SE seems to be more sensitive towards 35.5 than 34.7

I noticed better 35.5 performance compared to 34.7 also. I am glad to hear it is working well for you.

I'm gonna jump on the boat and say 35.5 beats 34.7 most of the time and almost always in forward facing.

These Whistlers being better on 35.5Ka than 34.7Ka is one thing, but one mile forward facing on a RD known for its forward facing struggles in quite another. Is a Whistler even capable of detecting a forward facing radar contact at that distance? I doubt it. Not from what I've seen.

1 mile is a little bit questionable but at the same time not everyone here lives in LA

Here we go again. DJ vs. the Whistler users. I'm going to start counting how many times this happens. No offense dj but you started this one.

If the Whistler SE RDs consistently behaved like the ones DJ tested, then every Whistler user wouldn't be using a Whistler. They would've all gotten tickets and would be bashing Whistler every chance they get. Unless they are lying, their Whistlers are doing what they were designed to do, save them from tickets. Does the bashing need to keep going even though for some people their Whistler is doing just fine?

djrams80 only sees what he wants to see. I'm convinced that no amount of real world daily Whistler SE user's feed-backs and videos will change his tune.

All they had to do was perform reasonably well during the two months or so that I tested them, nothing more.

With my STI-R at times I get good forward facing detection, at other times I get very crappy forward facing. I had a 35.5 encounter the other day, my STI-R alerted right before I passed the leo and my Cobra only alerted after I passed the leo.

Whether I get good detection or not with any detector depends on two things:

1. Whether or not the rear antenna is on.

2. If there is anything for the radar to reflect off of.

I have gotten very crappy range on forward facing with every detector I've owned. Will a more sensitive detector help? Yes, but if there is nothing for the radar to reflect off of you can't blame the detector regardless of what it is.
