Exclamation Pro-78se too many Ka, K False alert

I was driving up to Boston last night, and my radar detector would go off on k-false alerts every 30 seconds on Mass Pike. It would suddenly reach high numbers (8-9), then abruptly stop. I must have experienced this alert at least 50 times. Then, when I was visiting my gf at wellesley, the radar detector kept going on Ka alerts, with the same problem. However, the Ka false alerts happened every 10 seconds! For an hour I had to endure its constant alerting. I don't know what is wrong with the radar detector. I had it set to Pop Off, Ka MAXID, Filter 2.

Please help! I think my radar detector is going haywire! I don't like that it is being very unreliable.

BTW I did a factory hard reset 5 times and set the correct settings, but the problem did not go away!

UPDATE: The radar detector did go off K band because an Audi A4 passed me. I searched on forums that it may have to do with their Adaptive cruise control, lane assist change feature that used radar. But it still doesn't solve my Ka band false alerts!

I just went out again in Wellesley, MA. This time, I set the Ka Mode to RSID. Still, I get Ka falses every 30 seconds....

I PM'ed Michael B. Hopefully, I get this issue resolved. I really like this detector. I've taken it with me to Florida from NJ (16 hour drive) and it had many saves. (Made it in 13 hours) I realized though, that sometimes it performs very well, and sometimes it doesn't (1-2 seconds before seeing LEO). Overall, though for the price I paid, I think it was worth it.

Don't know if I'm going to keep it, since I'm moving to Montreal. Radar detectors are illegal, and the fine I heard, is around 1000 dollars. I'm thinking of giving this to my brother and purchasing another one that is invisible to RDD (Redline or STi).

Some areas use solar powered K band sensors to gauge the flow of traffic in large metropolitan areas. I have personally experienced this many times on I-5 in Washington State from Seattle to Tacoma to Olympia. The alerts are real but they will drive you nuts. I have experienced the KA falses they can be annoying.

If there is an issue with you Radar Detector Michael B. will certainly make it right. He is very responsive to radar detector issues.

Its defininately an RD worth the money. For what its worth as far as advice goes, the Pro-78se detector is the closest RD you can get to stealth other than an STI/Redline. Doesn't get detected until its 100-150 feet, and unless you have your head up your bum, you'd see them long before they can detect you.

Sure sounds like something is going on with either what Whistler1 said, bad detector or not the best settings for your area.

Do you have Xband disabled or using the City2 setting?
As far as false K alerts, these detectors have a serious flaw if Xband is disabled. If Xband is disabled, the detector will detect Xband alright but erroneously alert to K band! Hopefully Whistler is working on this.

Far as the irritating Ka alerts, others using these detectors in heavy traffic, big city areas have raised similar issues also. Try using the Filter modes, disable Ka max mode and use one of the other Ka settings.

I personally would take Michael B's offer and contact him though!
