    Default New Budget-Priced Whistler

Whistler fans, I have just posted some information about a new mid-priced Whistler model sporting the same levels of performance of their higher-end (ie; higher price models)...

excellent, now I have something I can recomend to those that don't understand how investing hundreds of dollars in a radar detector actually saves you money in the long run

That will be a great unit ! The Rev C platform is still a good performer. 169.95? You can buy a new Pro 78 SE or 690 E for that. I wouldn't be suprised if the Pro 68 SE has the same sensitivity of a Pro 78 SE. Ka max seems to be a big manufacturing variance on the detectors.

This is going to cause some really good performance pressure on the market, given that the street prices ought to be in the $80 - $90 range if the Pro68 (non-SE) is any indication. The better the low end RDs perform, the more the mid and high end detectors will have to step up their game. For basic detection on a budget this one sounds like a contender.

OK guys, for some reason i for one am not impressed!

What i'd like to see is Whistler releasing a 'higer end' model to obsolete the SE series!

    dj,

Haven't road tested it enough to comment on that. But, if it performs well (relative to others including the ci, then it does, if it doesn't then it doesn't).

Contrary to your inference, I don't put my fingers on the scale for any model, one over the other, although I can't say the same for certain others.

PS: Look at the message again. It was directed towards Whistler fans, not Whistler detractors, which clearly you are. Drink your Kool-Aid on the Escort forum.

If people are going to buy budget RDs, would you rather have them buy a Whistler that works and doesn't set off every other detector for miles, or a Cobra that doesn't work and sets off detectors. Naysayers aside, bringing higher end features to lower end price points has always pushed technology's leading edge, be it USB memory sticks, TVs, cars, laptops, etc.

I have a feeling something will arrive in a few months. Maybe a remote High end Whistler with blinder laser jammers Or a Redline competition
