Use tech. mode and advise what frequency Ka they are operating.

All though, I see your point to not use POP in RD banned area, but it has been proven then the Toronto city police do use instant on occasionaly.

I only saw them once on the DVP and to be sure I did a few runs. It was just north of bloor heading south.

Not sure if their is any advantage to using instant on, perhaps you could advise?

Never seen POP and never did a false POP warning on the STi (I have it enabled). Until I here otherwise, POP mode makes the detector do additional scans at the 33.8 range which is my biggest threat in TO. So having it on should help me see that range better. Other Ka is not a threat to me at this time.

Sorry to bump an old thread, but I just wanted to mention something and that is that I ran into a Sheriff on Glenmore Trail in the SE on Monday and he was running Ka band inside the city, not X. Not sure if their using both or what, but I haven't run into any X band anything around here that wasn't a false in my limited time on the road with a RD.

I'm also in Calgary, and have turned off X and K band, for around town. It's all Ka photo radar, Ka and Laser police guns, in town.

Out on the highway it's mostly Ka with the Mounties, but about 10% of them are still using K. Maybe I'll also turn X back on when I'm highway driving given recetn reports here.

In Calgary, I've had a few POP alerts, which I believed to be false alarms. I've deactivated POP til I hear it's a threat.

Ok sorry to bump an old thread, but K band is a HUGE threat in Alberta, especially Edmonton.

Just look at my videos and you'll see that all photo radar is K band, as well as most of the highway patrol sheriffs I've run into.

Ka band is mostly used by RCMP and EPS...

Bingo! I wouldn't put it past them and if anyone believes otherwise you're fooling yourself...

I have POP and X on, and so far no POP alerts. here in rapid City, SD so far the LEOs are using 34.7 Ka Band (so far), K Band portables trailers and PL III's. Boy I cannot wait to employ some good 'ol ECM on them once my LI Dual is installed running alongside my 9500ix

New Alberta Sheriff's are confirmed using X band.
*However* It seems that the sheriffs are sending one car with X band first to judge speed, then a second unmarked or slick top will I/O Ka the faster moving vehicles. Luckily, I slowed down when I got a strengthening to full X-band signal on the RX65.

In the Banff area, I was pulled over from rear firing X band once though.

RCMP and Bylaw (Peace Officers) in Sherwood Park almost exclusively use K band radar, except in newer cars. The bylaw trucks all have K.

Interestingly enough, driving through BC, it appears the RCMP are at least testing Ku.
