I have had 2 Chevy Suburbans one LT and one LTZ. Both were nothing but problems from the day I drove them off the lot. I have stuck with Ford Excursion ever since. They are going to start making them again next year.

I have had several GMC products and I have never had any kind of major problem yet.(Knock on Wood)
No 1 & No 2 selling passenger cars in the US are dependent on who has the latest model truck between Ford & GM. They individually beat any 4-door car sold.
I have 2 GM trucks with the 5.3 engine. Pay the extra 995 & upgrade to the 6.2L engine. It is an awesome engine but be warned, the current GMT900 body style was a horible failure for GM as they are made very cheap & don't hold up. The all new GM truck is due out as a 2013 in less than 1 year from now. The 2011-2012 GM trucks will lose half of their resale value in about a year when the 2013 hits the streets. Not many people will want one of the old ones with the paper thin sheet metal and constant issues.
I have had a 99,01,08 and now a 2011 with 5.3 326ci and have had no problems with any of them and i don't baby my trucks. 6.2 is a good idea if you can afford the cash.
The 5.3 or the 327 has been over the years, one of the best engines that GMC has produced.
I'm driving a 2011 Silverado with the 6.2. Great setup and the mileage is only 1 1/2 less mpg than the 5.3. This is the 3rd gm truck that I've driven for a work truck and they've been real good. My only gripe is/was that the 5.3 is underpowered for my needs and the "old" 4 speed auto was always searching for the right gear. The new 6.2 with the new 6 speed auto addresses these issues in spades! 07 sierra 70k wrecked, good runner, 08 sierra 280,000 traded, good runner, 2011 silverado, 30,000 driving, excellent.

Yea, it does and that is the only tranny choice I would buy.
