...K-band - 7 to 8 second advantage for the Sti-R, which is kind of significant given the short course IMO.

The K band difference was shocking to me. Before getting the STi-R, my V1 was the undisputed "king" of K-band out of all the RD's I had ever owned. (see sig)

    The STi-R simply pwn3d the V1 on K-band.

Just got the Sti-R installed this morning. Driving by several businesses w/k-band door openers that I go by every day, the STi-R is defintiely more sensitive on K-band in Hwy mode than the V1. This was running the STi-R only, no V1.

The Sti-R alerted in one place where the V1 doesn't even alert. Interestingly I had a Bel RX65 that would alert also at the same point. I remembered the RX65 alerting at this point, and was deliberately watching to see if the STi-R would alert, which it did. I wonder if Valentine has deliberately decreased sensitivity on K-band w/3.872?

I had mine inside my car for about a month until I got around to mounting it on the outside. It seemed to hurt the range.... When it was inside the car v1 was beating it slightly, every time. On the outside of the car the STI-R slightly edges out or ties V1.

I wonder how well a V1 would do if it were set up just like the STI-R on the outside of a car? I know a V1 isn't made to go on the outside, but you know what I'm saying. Has anyone ever tested a V1 like this?

There have been aftermarket compaines making a kit for using the V1 outside of the car. There may also be some on eBay. I don't really know much about it but it has been discussed lightly on here before.

First of all great videos.Thanks. I currenty run a v1 3.872 and I am thinking of getting a Sti-r. Do you think that running both of the detectors at the same time efected the sti-r from picking up some of the Q/T??Did you have any test vids that tested each detector by itself??Do you normally run the v1 and the Sti-r at the same time and feel comfortable that they are performing at there peek level together??

I feel my V1 is a great detector but there are times I wonder if I am missing some Q/T alerts. My best alert to date (C/O)with my V1 is about 4 mile at 34.7 ka on a arrow straight road but with traffic in both directions.

It would be really nice to see some controlled testing since the V1 & Sti-r seem to be a popular combo. My Sti-r seems to work ok with my V1. The Sti-r alerts first about 75% of the time, but of course maybe it'd to even better without the V1 in use. I'm very satisfied with my V1 since on the open road it gives more than enough notice, even if the Sti-r does usually alert a few seconds earlier.

I've had a couple of encounters recently though where the Sti-r has had a big advantage in off-axis encounters. These were in non-critical situations around town, so they weren't saves by any means. However, I'm beginning to think the big advantage the Sti-r has over the V1 isn't so much in raw sensitivity, but rather in off-axis detection.

It looks Like you pretty much just started running the Sti-r and V1.I am guessing before you purchased your Sti-r you were thinking just like I am(Do I really want to run two detectors)? With the price of the Sti-r's right now(under 6 bills) its a pretty good price for what I have read to be the best detector ever produced.I am on the fence and I really dont know which way to fall.

I have not noticed any problems when running both at the same time.

4 miles is pretty good BTW..

I don't remember. somewhere between 2.5 and 3 miles IIRC. -Had a few hills that blocked line-of-sight too.
