Here is a radioshack radar detector. I recently bought a bell rx55. Just wondering if anyone has had one of these and if anyone can tell me who makes it for radioshack. thanks

Made by BG Tech, the same company that makes Cobra and Early Warning.
so pretty much its junker ha
whats interesting is my early 90s early warning detector i think is made from a company named Sunkyong America... I have no idea about this company.. I guess then early warning switched to bg tech.
well the detector did a decent job i guess, picked up great range on k when the conditions were right, the other morning i was going to work and it picked up a cop with constant on k from a mile away over a bridge, was impressed, hope the rx55 will live up to these standards.
What is the radio shack cat #?
Tested this RD in Greece 1,5 years ago. Although it's not suitable for Greece (no Ku band), I thought it would be nice to test it.
In X band (we had some K15's back then) it was more than decent. It could detect X band IO from 1 Km even when the road was curvy.
In K band it was decent. It detected K band warning signs at 600 m (straight road) and fixed Gatsos at 200 m.
In Ka band I couldn't test it as we don't have such band in Greece.
In Ku no test as the RD doesn't support this band.
I noticed 2 strange things.
1. As I travelled the highway near Athens, where the only signals it could detect would be K band from door openers, I had some strange VG2 alerts. In a 20 Km ride I had 4-5 such alerts !!!
2. The other strange thing was that when I had a call, the RD always detected Ka band. This happened at least 6-7 times during my testing and always when I used the cell phone.
Thnx for your time.
