Default newb question - speed signs

i searched but couldnt really find anything on this topic. i was watching a youtube video on the RX65 and a speed sign. anyways the RX65 didnt pick it up becuase the speed sign omits a lower radar frequency of im correct.

my questions is, why dont police use the same guns as these speed signs? espically if they will beat out these detectors that won't be able to pick it up.

once again its a newb question yes i understand just confused. mods you can lock after the question is answered.

I'd imagine power, that speed sign probably doesn't have the range or accuracy that a full powered gun would have. i know that around here some of the signs won't pick up your speeds until maybe 100ft or so.

so my guess is to low powered and not as accurate? i could be wrong though

Not all speedsigns use the same type of radar guns as the police. The FM-CW ones are definitely filtered out by the V1, but perhaps the RX65's filtering is also advanced enough to reject FM-CW transmissions.

There is also the possibility that your detector is out of tune. Hopefully not

Could be the sign was out of tune......
They tend not to care as much about them
drifting out of tune than lets say a real
gun that could issue a citation.

I confronted one of these things that initially threw me for a loop. Told me my speed was whatever. I was just following traffic.

No radar report on my Bel Rx 65.

Then, as I pass it, whadayaknow!!! K band!!!!!

It was a "forward facing" radar gun. Tracking vehicles that had already gone by, and reporting theri speed, accusatorily, at on coming traffic.

Can't trust these lion sons of bastichies! Any wonder we need to arm ourselve with radar detectors?!!! It's electronic warfare!

    Fargin' ice holes!

Forward facing is hard to pick up, but against real radar, my Bel serves me pretty well. I've been saved from many a photo-radar van. The hardest one to detect still alerted me...oh, 10-20 feet before I got to him. Assuming the pic is only taken when I'm 30 or so feet in front of him, I still have a bit of warning. Precious little, I admit.

Usually, it's more like a 300 + ft warning of forward facing photo radar.

i doubt it was reporting cars going away from the sign.

These signs are prob using microwave or even laser..the RX65 isnt the best at picking up lidar.
