Default X50 and solar powered speed signs - newbie question

I just bought a new x50, and I drive down a street with one of those solar powered signs that tell your speed. The first time I drove down the street, the escort did not go off until I passed, and got stronger as I went away. The next day, I tried twice, and the x50 did not go off either time. Should the x50 be going off?

I think it should go off...

if you were approaching towards the speed sign... definitely..

as far as getting stronger as you pass away from the speed sign, you might be picking up another signal.. maybe a door or something?

i would suggest trying spec mode.. but that might not help because you are not picking up the speed sign, but it would be interesting to see what you can pick up and record i suppose.

I might be wrong, if i am please correct guys. thanks!

    enjoy.

Those speed signs often fade off frequency. If they fade out of the frequency then no your x-50 will not pick it and may be filtered out as a false alarm. Nothing to be concerned about, this is normal

I agree I normally pick up speed signs also as k. but if the sign has gone off frequency... from Beltronics web page

    Speed Signs - No Warning
The neighborhood speed signs are not used to issue traffic tickets or citations. As a result, these portable systems are not calibrated regularly and they eventually "drift" out of calibration from the FCC authorized frequencies. Our detectors have always been great at filtering out non-police frequencies to reduce the number of false alerts. It is not unusual to pass one of the signs that say "your speed is" and not receive an alert.

My SRX detects K band signs between 24.000GHz and 24.299GHz. If a sign's frequency drifts outside of that, my SRX will not give me a K band alert, since this radar frequency is not in the K band range. Police radar guns are required to operate within the FCC approved frequencies.

they do generally fall out of frequency. there was one near me for about 2 weeks - every day the range on my rd would get shorter and shorter until nothing...

I recently took a trip up the coast and I passed about 6 K speed signs and one Ka 34.7 speed sign. The X50 alerted to all in plenty of time to slow had they been real threats. Some were even over hills and around corners.

I was not surprised though ... back in December I took a trip to Vegas going the "back way" through Joshua Tree etc. and hit a bunch of K speed signs ... the X50 kicked ass on those too.
