You need to show her the arrows. She has a Cayenne turbo she is not dumb. You have a unlimited budget call VR tell them the story run it buy them they can help make no mistake.

With an unlimited budget, I'd buy 2 STi-R+s and mount one behind the front grill and the other behind the rear bumper. That would give her virtual arrows and also give her the superior range and off-axis performance of the M3 platform. I would also send my rear-view mirror off to radar-mirror and have both displays installed inside the mirror. Also, being that she is in Maryland and so close to Virgina, the stealthiness of the M3 platform against RDDs (radar-detector-detectors) like the Spectre would be like icing on the cake.
Unfortunately, mounting two STiRs won't give the result you describe. Additionally, do not mount the antennas behind anything.
The reason mounting one front and one rear STiR won't work like having a V1 is that most STiR antennas are mounted low, compared to the manufacturers recommendation to mount the V1 high. You may encounter situations when radar being shot in front of you may be obstructed by a vehicle in front of you, but reflected by a vehicle, sign, building, tree, etc. behind you resulting in receiving a stronger rear signal, than front signal, making you initially believe that the radar source is behind you. The converse can also happen. Add in the superior sensitivity of the M3 attenna which can compound this even further. The design of the V1 horn and because the front and rear radar receivers are so close together plus the firmware of the V1 makes the V1 superior for determining direction than two STiRs.
I am assuming the cari the picture is not your friends mothers car because it doesn't have the radar head for the radar assisted cruise control.
You apparently missed this:
Unless she can kill X & POP completely for her area, I'd say the V1 is completely out of the question for this scenario. Even in that set-up with K still enabled, the V1 isn't nearly as pleasant to drive with as a Belscort w/ GPS and still requires driver interpretation. As great as the V1 is for the hardcore driver, some of you need to acknowledge that it's NOT appropriate for your average person. MANY people, especially women driving $100k+ Porsches, just like to get in their cars and drive without having to interpret the alerts being uttered from a chatty RD. That's why Belscort designed their detectors with GPS. Besides, in a luxurious $100k+ Porsche, who would want a detector sitting on their windshield?
OP, if you're already doing the install for LI's, you'd might as well mount an Sti-R+ for her and make it a nice clean install all the way around.

Silverado, you hit the nail on the head!
Is the laser shifter in the 9500ci really that bad to warrant spending the extra $800 to get a LI Quad? I mean it isn't out of the question at all, just is it really necessary?
I do like how the STiR is red rather than blue and the sounds are much nicer so I'm happy with that, I just can't decide on a laser shifter...
Decisions, Decisions...
EDIT: The STiR is $1299 on beltronics website and then Passport 9500ci can be had for around $1,500... So is it really worth $800 more to get the LI Quad?

Absolutely go with Laser Interceptor. There isn't any question.
I'm no expert, but any of the laser people on here will tell you that LI's are worth every extra penny over the ZR4 shifters, especially on a SUV. There's a reason why ZR4's cost $450 and LI Quad's cost $1199. If I was in your position and wanted to drop some of the cost, I would go with LI Dual's for the front and forget about the rear for now. I'd rather have strong & reliable front coverage with LI's than weaker full coverage with ZR4's. Besides, rear laser attacks are fairly rare and usage is really dependent on your region. Rear jammers can always be added later on.
You forgot to mention the smoother ramp-up with the Sti-R
At radarbusters.com, the Sti-R+ sells for $1199 and a set of ZR4 shifters goes for $400. So, you can basically equip the Sti-R+ exactly like the CI for the same price; there is seriously NO reason to get the CI. Also, forum members get a 10% discount there, which can help soften the price of the Sti-R+ & LI's. Good luck with your decision!
StiR + & LI Front it is!
I could get the Quad but I really don't think it is worth it for her uses.
What is the best way to wire this up? I've done V1 hardwires in the past and I've usually just used the add-a-fuse thingies. I want to make sure I do this install as professionally as possible with the same felt covered tape the German manufactures use.
I still have a big problem. The Cayenne shuts down at red lights and what not as you keep your foot on the brake. Now personally I would turn this off, but it is a nice 'green' feature that my friend's Mom really likes in her gas guzzler! Apparently when the truck makes this switch, it quickly drops to under 9V and will result the 9500ci (well StiR in this case). I know this from talking to an installer that said they need to build a custom relay with a backup 12V battery.
Would someone be able to chat on G-Chat or AIM and help me work out a wiring schematic for the install for the StiR and LI? Shoot me a PM, I will of course PayPal you for your time.
Thanks for all the advice.
Best,
Mike
