Question Radar Based Cruise Control and 9500ci

Mercedes has a package that provides active cruise control, lane assist and blind spot assistance (aka Driver Assistance Package). It is radar based. If a 9500ci system were installed, would the radar from the Driver Assistance Package interfere?

Yes, because Mercedes in their infinite "wisdom" chose to use K band for their adaptive cruise system.

If you're planning on buying one of those cars, do yourself (and everyone around you) a favor and buy one that doesn't have that option.

I was on the road yesterday for almost 40 miles with a Mercedes within 30 feet of me. I was ready to shoot the guy.

So now Lexus has it too? I've seen it on a few Chrysler minivans. Fortunately it doesn't seem to be too common.

My advice to anyone buying a vehicle is to bring your RD on the test drive to make sure it doesn't have any K band transmitters! Also be sure to operate the cruise control during your test drive.

Just curious, do those systems cause any interference with K Band guns? Has anyone tested to see.

Has anyone determined the specific K Band frequency. It seems to me that the FCC would have had to approve the frequency so as not to interfere with other licenses.

If so, then why haven't the detector manufacturers muted the specific frequencies for these adaptive radar systems?

That's about as likely to happen as 2 K-band guns interfering with each other. In other words, no...

Lexus RX 350 has it. Not sure if it cruise or blind spot avoidance. I can pick them up from around 1/2 ahead of me and pulling away. It is line of sight signal and with V1 arrows there is no beep-n-wonder.
