Currently have a V1 3.858, worthwile to upgrade to current version?
I have been off of the forum for some time now. How does my 3.858 stack up against the current model? What are the differances if any?
Is a refurb going to be the latest version? Has anyone had trouble with buying a refurb? What does VRR do to the unit before selling it as a refurb?
I have a C5 Z06, and have had no problems. In fact, the arrows work better in the Z than my other vehicals. Probbably because of the close proximity to the rear (polycarbonate) window.
I have a 3.858 that I really like, and I would like to get another for my fiance. How does the new one compare to the 3.858?
Is the E any different than a service required message on an escort model? If every escort owner sent there X50 in every time it had a service required message, I would by stock in UPS.
Have you done any programming to your unit? You should have been able to tell if it was K or Ka by the audio allert. If it was K band, and you have it in big L mode, you may have been automuting the...
You are correct, the when you turn the ignition off the vehicals relays lose power, and when a coil loses power there is a voltage spike from the collapsing magnetic field. OEM equipment takes...
Looks kind of like surrealist art.
A is the most sensitive mode for the V1. You can program it to be somewhat more sensitive by turning off POP, but that is about the only thing that will somewhat increase your range. There is a Ka...
If you are accustomed to driving with other radar detectors, you will be comfortable with the V1 in a few weeks (assuming you drive in a combination of urban and suburban areas). I would recomend...
Especially barns in Croatia.
My V1 almost always beats my X50 on K, though they have tied on a few occasions. My girlfriends X50, however, will tie the V1 quite often on K band, and sometimes beat it. 35.5 Ka (which is almost...
Reminds me of my prom date.
Then why don't you turn off the laser detection on your unit?
Busses have even set off my ZR3, so I wouldn't say the V1 is too sensitive based on this alone. I know that alot of things can set off the V1's laser sensor, but I wouldn't want any less sensitivity.
I switched from being a loyal passport buyer/user to the V1, and I have no plans of returning. I carried my X50 rev 5 and my 3.858 with me for months. Every time there was a stationary leo using...
As far as tinting the arrows, you could get that static cling tinting that they use on corner lights and tail lights. I don't know how well it would stick, but its a thought anyway. Try this link...
Are you getting it in its box with all accessories?
I kept the Ka guard on, turned the POP off, and regard J alerts (I have only had a handfull of them) as a possible LEO.
How can laser range finders get enough reflection to give you a range at 800 yards on a target like an animal or a tree? Especially considering that police LIDAR would have a tough time on a black...
They do get hot to the touch on warm sunny days even with the AC on, Mounting in the vicinity of the tint strip, or mounting on the visor (which I find inconvienent) will help. As for leaving it in...
You can look at this list in the speed trap section of the forum:
http://www.radardetector.net/viewtopic.php?t=589
But that is a general list for the entire state, I would post a question in the...
Well, first it depends on the area that you live in, as you may be able to turn off X band. Second, I would turn off pop protection (if you have a newer model featuring pop). After that, it is all...
It's funny, because I seem to get better range on Ka than on K. Anyhow, I seem to get about a mile on K band speed signs with the V1 and the 8500, they normaly try and put them behind hills and...
