Default Hardwiring the V1 this weekend

Here's the deal, I have a Mustang Convertible and am going to be hard-wiring the V1 in this weekend...

The question is.. .shoud I use the flat cable for the hardwire, or the spiral?

I don't have the luxury of a powered mirror and the V1 is going to sit just below the mirror... I'm figuring that if I run the spiral (and flatten it by stretching it out) when it effectively emerges from just above the mirror at the headliner, there will be very little cable visible when the V1 is unplugged due to the spiral coiling back up (and will effectively be hidden by the mustang logo)

Anyone see any flaws in my thinking?

Depending on where your mounting the power point I would use the flat one, so you still have a cable to use if your not in that car.

I just did this in my 2003 Mustang Vert.
What I did was tap into the wires leading to the lights in the mirror.
I used a piece of telephone cable, a fuse and an RJ11 connector on one end.

The cable length is about 5 inches and since I used black cable it blends right into the harness already up there. I fished the cable through the existing tubing already up there for the lights.

I used the 3M locking strips (like those on ezpass) and stuck them up as high as I could go, over the pony dot thing and on top of the mirror
They stick fine and the V1 is 99 percent hidden even with the top down unless you look real close.
My car is also black which helps as well.

Looks good. I did the same thing this morning on my Si, tapping into dome light power. Love a clean install -- it looks so OEM!

not to be a negative nancy, but any time you hardwire make sure there is a fuse between the detector and the power source.

I wired mine through my rear view mirror, without a fuse... And this could be the reason one morning the insides nuked themselves and the unit practically caught on fire.

    so just a heads up.

The V1 Direct Wire Adapter has an inline fuse built in.

Double fused this end (10A first fuse that's connected to "all" my auxiliary devices (Sirius, Xm, iPod and now V1)

Left the inline fuse installed for the V1 (It's tucked neatly into the domelight and Vert actuator housing)

WAS thinking about "notching" the front piece of plastic (in front of the domelight housing) and then thought... Where's the Dremmel... bloody wife must have borrowed it, OK, I can install it faster like this anyways

thats why the hardwire adapter standing proud of the domelight housing... MAYBE if the dremmel turns up I'll got for a real stealth install
