My first Leo J-out....

It happened finally. Waiting at the drive-up window at a fast food joint, the V1 was showing a front K band Leo getting closer. After seeing it was a county slowing to stop at the corner red light on the main drag, the V1 also then alerted to a front Ka. It too was a Leo, probably a county also that I have met running C/O Stalker Ka before, was not far behind the front Leo according to the V1. Having to drive around the food place and exit on the side street connecting to the corner red light, the V1 had switched to alarming to the rear then it happened, the big J leaving only the K band showing. So I turned the V1 off then back on to see what the Ka band would do. After facing the red light on the side street, both bands reappeared after powered up. There had to be a Cobra in the parking lot...... Oh, the county that runs the C/O Ka, I met him afterwards with a nice over the hill alarm, but the alarm started out on 4 LEDs, hope the V1 is not going back to the same problem of starting alarms off with more than 1-2 LEDs showing like it did before, then having to send it back to Valentine to be readjusted. It was on! I do run the V1 in different settings just to change things up. But did have a J-out last month with POP off at a redlight then 30 seconds a Ka local got behind me. Can not confirm that the J-out there had anything to do with that Leo or not. These are rare. Happy Motoring....

Seems like my V1 rarely starts out with just 1 led, normally it ramps up to 3 or 4 pretty quick, then it climbs from there.

With POP off, I ran thru the same small town and got the Ka alert again. This Leo must have a higher powered radar unit. I got a 1 LED alarm starting off for a short distance for about 20 seconds on the main drag, so the V1 works right with POP off. He was up in the hills some where. This guys C/O Ka radar is so easy to pick up. The V1 has found him a bunch of times before and I have never seen him. The question now that I have, does POP on delay 34.7 and 35.5 like the Ka guard does? Because, the post above, the alarm started out on 4 LEDS with POP on, but this Ka was found with 1 LED with POP off. Is there a delay on these two freqs with POP on. Has anybody noticed this? It could be that I am running into the beam at an angle, thus the alarm is starting off with more LEDs. Happy Motoring...

Unless you access to a radar gun, you'd have to find them stationary some Sunday morning and do a few slow approaches if their running C/O.

I will do that test, find a sitting Ka Leo (34.7 oe 35.5) and see if there is a delay with POP on. More less to see if the alarm will start on 1 LED or more LEDs. I have tested the Ka guard on/off before (very slight increase in sensitivity with Ka guard off) but have not mess with the POP mode. I will report the findings. Happy Motoring.....

My Ka also usually starts out with 3 or 4 LED's. It scares the crap out of me. That was with POP on. Ifinally just turned POP off today, and will see if I start getting alerts with 1 LED. Will be kind of hard to tell as the staties here seem to always run I/O. But can someone confirm turning POP off will help with Ka sensitivity?

I've had Ka J-outs. Could never confirm whether it was LEO or other false signals. I'm thinking about turning Ka guard off for a week and see what happens.

That's happened to me once before on 3.825. What version V1 do you have?
