    Default Best setting for NJ driving on xtr-690?

    Question's in the title. What are the optimal settings for an xtr-690 in NJ? As in Pop off/sws off/x off etc. Rite now im running everything on except POP

    why sws? it doesn't affect anything does it?

    Not really, SWS isn't sweeped separately. SWS is only checked during a K-band alert, and since these units can't detect multiple signals anyway it really doesn't cost a thing.


    But POP OFF is definitely recommended to prevent a flurry of junk detector falses.

    Well maybe it is different for Whistler but I know for other manufacturers this is the case

    Well I don't want to make an already struggling forum server any slower by trying to search out the specific post, but I did once ask Mike B specifically if there's any performance benefit from turning off SWS and he responded no.

    But at any rate, since the chances of seeing SWS is zero, wasting our breath debating about this is pretty silly ;-)

    Yea leave SWS on.

    My dad actually was driving through Michigan and got two confirmed SWS alerts!

    One was a "caution" alert, and the other was "emergency vehicle ahead".

    He told me the range was about 1 mi in both cases.
