I get alot of falses with my 995 on the K band while in autoscan... I was just wondering if the rest of you notice this?
Shame they dont have the decreased sensitivity for K like they do X.

Yeah, My 895 doesn't filter out K either in autoscan. I heard that eariler models did, but not the new ones.
I have very few falses in Autoscan mode with my x65. However, that is not to say I wouldn't have just as many falses as you if I was driving the same routes you take.Originally Posted by StandingCow
I agree that a cool feature would be if they added a way to decrease the K band sensitivity. Then again K is still being widely used, so it might not be a good idea.

True, it doesnt bother me that much, and I know exactly where it will happen everytime, hell I could drive with my eyes shut and tell you where I am based on alerts.Originally Posted by carboncopy
I did however get to see that I can detect K band from very far away (3-4 miles?) due to a long straight road and a stationary Radar thing.
Oh man that is good range on K band! My X65 picked up some KA tonight from about 2 miles out. He was shooting instant on and I got a few short beeps, then nothing. Then, about 1 mile out it ramped up to 4-5 and then boom I could see him and the RD hit 8-9 for a sec. That must have been when he shot me. I was pleased with the range!!
Im going to measure it tonight if I remember, but I know It comes up 2 miles facing the opposite direction... so Im assuming it will be about 4 miles facing me.Originally Posted by carboncopy
I was playing with POP on the way home today (never had it on before) and only got two hits, one was before a bridge... but saw no cop, the other was by this navy training sim, ususally it sets off my LASER alarm (figure that one out).
How many K falses do you get with Hwy mode vs autoscan?Originally Posted by carboncopy
That is good. The most I ever got was about .8 miles. Gave me more then enough time to slow down, but as we all know, we want the bestOriginally Posted by carboncopy
Its the same for me in both auto and city mode (guess that makes sense since auto goes back and forth), driving 80 miles from work I had it go off probly 7 times or so, its always just about the same. But I have NEVER had an X band false unless I have it in HWY mode.Originally Posted by asianfire
The thing I've accepted about my V995 (and ALL radar detectors, really) is that they are what the name indicates: RADAR detectors!
Seriously, I know that sounds like a cop-out (no pun intended), but they aren't "POLICE detectors". Usually, it isn't a "FALSE" in the truest sense.....because there is SOMETHING that is setting it off....just not police radar! But the one thing it proves is that the detector is sensitive....I called mine a "Walgreens detector" the first few days because every Walgreens in town set it off with their electronic doors (not even when they are activated, but just the sensors being in place and ready would set it off from a block or so up the road).
Anyway, I know that isn't real comforting, StandingCow.....and while the new software version (if you have the older) SHOULD produce a little better filtering, I would still expect the falses. ALL detectors have their fair share...just go to the Valentine, Escort, Whistler, etc. forums.....you 'll see what I mean. You can literally read thread after thread where people complain about the falsing issues. But just remember that it's a RADAR detector, and NOT a "police detector", and once you learn what sets it off at which locations, you can pretty much accept the "police radar falses"....the one time it saves you from a $100+ speeding ticket you'll think putting up with the falses was worth it......
