Default Replacement Speaker(louder) in X50 - Anyone tried this yet?

    Hey guys/gals,

I was wondering if anyone has put a replacement speaker in their X50 yet. The overall sound(loudness) is weak. Matter of fact, it's the weakest speaker i've ever experienced on a radar detector.

I replaced the speaker in my Bel 985 months ago, and it's unbelievably strong, to the point it's deafening if cranked all the way. I'm tempted to open the case of my X50 to inspect the stock speaker and surroundings. I'd love to replace it with a spare i have for the 985 - i bought 4 speakers, 2 different brands.

    Any opinions?

    But why?

You must have some luck getting RD that have weak speakers, my 985 out of the box is ear piercing, and can only tolerate level 1, and thats with the mute feature on. As far as Escort, holy hell that thing is loud too. I have no clue why you seem to have these weak speakers, perhaps you are deaf and need a hearing aid. Just kidding around with you.

The reason i replaced the speaker on my 985 is due to it going out prematurely, like many others. The replacement speaker is so much louder than the stock which it came with. As for the X50, even with the setting on "loud", it's pathetic especially with tunes on. I want it to throw me out of my seat when i get k/ka threats. If you put my 985 side-by-side with my X50 on same threat... the sound of the 985 would literally smother it. With the X50 speaker maxed out... it sucks. In other words, "Is this as loud as this thing gets? Might as well keep the windows up and the radio off if i'm gonna save my azz". My hearing's fine by the way.

I agree, the x50 is loud but not nearly enough to get your attention fast enough with the tunes/windows down.
