Instant on K band

Ok on my way to work taking my normal route down "speed trap lane" I get zapped with K band instand on. I was going about 10mph over the speed limit and hit the brakes pretty hard to get down to 65mph.

I was REALLY close to the LEO and I was the only car out front on my side of the road. My question is this.. The LEO wasn't facing me when the RD went off. Could he have shot me from a gun in the rear of the car?

I didn't get a ticket thank God, so I am wondering if he was really clocking someone on the other side of the road, since he was facing that direction. I had to have been about 300m from him when my RD went off. I wasn't real happy with the detction range with this encounter..

I am going with he wasn't targeting you. He was targeting traffic traveling the other direction and you were getting the reflection off the vehicles headed towards the LEO. If the LEO was shooting instant on in the other direction 300m isn't too bad for detection range.

But I really don't believe he was targeting you becuase you would be paying a fine in a month or so if he was

Only 10 over? I wouldn't have even touched the brakes, just let off the gas. If the LEO did target you with the instant on at really close range, the LEO already had your speed before your foot even touched that brake pedal. The braking hard just let the LEO know you have a radar detector whch a lot of LEO's don't like it when you have a detector. In some cases making it known you have a detector might change the LEO's mind from thinking "only 10 over not going to mess with him" to "I see he's got a detector, time to write him for 10 over to teach him a lesson".
