How do I make display on V995 completely dark?

It says in the manual, refer to programing. But it only shows how to get to display cd,hd or ad. Not how to have the display show nothing at all. Thanks.

You can't get into darkmode via brightness settings?

Speaking from my STI:

Go into programming, scroll to brightness, probably says "BrtMAX" or something. Change this to "BrtDRK". Exit programming mode. Should now be dark.

The Escort 8500 X50 has a Dark All mode in the programming menu, but it doesn't look like any of the Bels do (I looked in both V995 manuals and the RX65, thinking *that* one should have it). The STi has full dark mode as its only dark mode.

As for why the manual mentions it, maybe it was copied from an older detector model that had the Dark All feature and it wasn't removed from the manual.

I can get into "dark mode". But according to the manual ( even though it doesn't tell how ) there is a "blackout, no display at all mode.

OK let's investigate... Yeah I don't see any mention of that... Perhaps call Bel?

A totally black-out "dark mode" would be very useful in areas where the local law is extra sensitive to RDs. Today, while I sat at a stoplight my KA started to go off, so instinctively I started scanning visually for the bear on the main road. Suddently, a local PD roll up right behind my Vette with his KA on constantly. Fortunately, I only had a quick moment to switch off the Rx65 in time, which the display was visible from behind. Phew.... :shock:

You can dim the display on the 995 but not darken it all the way. I thought the X50 was the only one which will darken the screen all the way?

On the Bel 995 and the Bel RX65 there is no total dark option. The STi has a total dark option, but you have ot enter program mode to change the STi's display settings which sucks in my opinion.

When you put the 995 or RX65 in Dark mode they displays a small AD (Auto Dark), HD (Highway Dark), or CD (City Dark) in the dimmest setting. When it picks up a signal you get audio and smart plug alerts only.
