Thinking of buying STi

Well i want to get me a christmas present that does excellent on Ka-band. That now is my main threat and my x50 doesnt seem to cut it. So its btw another v1 or ths STi.

Anybody that can share their opinions and or encounters with the STi, i will greatly appretiate it.

umm..id prob go a V1 if detectors are legal where u are.

I own both - older V1 and a new STi. Both are limited in their ability to alert Ka IMO but much better than most other detectors. They both work great when aimed at you without obstruction. But under more difficult situations e.g. gun off to the side, the detection can be inconsistent.

Personally, I miss and love the arrows (when they worked). I also owned other models of Beltronics. But now I live in an area that has Spectre and STi is the only choice.

Based on personal experience with the V1, I would say go with the STi. My V1 was absolute junk on Ka anywhere other than a straight line. I find Ka detection on the X50 to be far superior to the V1 on Ka. I have never tried the STi, but I can't imagine it being worse than the V1.

With KA it comes close for me. While I have read and seen GOL's test with the KA band the CHP use down here the Bel is my best bet, but sadly I am fond of the arrows. Still the V1 is a close second behind with KA for my area. What also helps me is I rarely go over the PSL and when I do it is only 5 -10 over allowing me ample time at the onsite of an alert.
