live in south suburbs of chicago pop on or off

i live in the south suburbs of chicago il, like around downers grove and i am not sure but i think pop is used around where i live but not sure so should i leave it on would it affect the range or the quickness

I'm not sure if Downers has it, but the towns surrounding it have and use it.
