RX65 speaker seized... HELP!

I bought this thing on ebay from a 100% feedback seller with 5500+ feedback.. before i found this forum, etc... so i know, i know...

of course the speaker decides to get scratchy a few months ago and the other day it stopped working completely.

i realize i can not send this thing into beltronics, so here i am :x

does anyone know a supplier where I can purchase a new speaker from? i realize this might be kind of difficult to track down, and may not even be my problem, but i'm hoping.. as the thing worked flawlessly up until this point. i have no problems opening the unit and replacing this part, i just have to find one

I think Roy sells external speakers if you dont mind having one.

Cant you send it in as a detector thats out of warranty and just pay the service fee of$85 (or whatever the charge is) ??

You can send this unit back to Bel, no problems, it will just cost you and that's all. At least you'll know all the work is done correctly and the RD is in 100% working order.

i really would like to get a replacement speaker directly... its gotta be cheaper than the $30 external, and definitely cheaper than the $85 charge for out-of-warranty work... not to mention i read a few stories where bel had a few units for over 30 days :shock:

i didnt think bel would sell the parts but that is awesome if i can get one... soldering isnt really a big deal to me

yeah, at first he was like.. "oh yeah.. those speakers are like... four bucks or something.. lemme check.... oh.. nevermind... its two dollars and fifty cents... after shipping it'll be like six or seven dollars"
