On the subject of what comes up on a LEOs screen, has anyone ever filed an access to information request or something of that nature to find out what they know about you? Sort of like a credit report, it might be interesting to know if it all is correct.

Several years ago during a firearms acquisition certificate interview with a LEO I was somewhat surprised to discover that she knew that I followed and reported a hit and run driver many years ago.

I find the STi has excellent 33.8 Ka detection. I drive in TO and all the city cops only us Ka 33.8 or lidar. Much better then the x50 and the same as the V1.

That LEO was full of $hit, you will win in court but loose a day of work

See instant on K band on the 401 used by the opp. They use in on the handhleds, I guess to save battery power????????????

    Default Court Date

Received my court date today. A Wednesday in April which is really annoying for an out-of-towner. A Monday or Friday would have worked much better. Any advice? Just show up and plead my case? If he does happen to have radar evidence I suppose I am dead.

I have requested specific court dates due to out of area (away from home) and the court (Florida) met my request. It does not hurt to try. Just explain the date presented a problem and that you will be glad to accept any date on a Monday or Friday due to the distance required to travel.

I think the answer is depends on the service that issued the ticket and who stops you the second time. I believe OPP may have access thru the MTO hook up (name of the new system...not PARIS escapes me). Put it this way..if local records indicate someone was issued tickets and the DL history shows no convictions...it usually means they fighting ticket.

you hit your brake that make his attention you should ask LEO to see the reading on his cruiser if he is running a radar you have the right to look of the speed clock on his cruiser.
Unless there is a requirement in law to show the speed there is no obligation. Common myth.

I've noticed that the OPP during traffic stops, will occasionally ask for information through a second system if and when the initial info does not correspond to the vehicle or person they are checking. I can't recall the name of the system but its not used very often. I've also heard it used sometimes when responding to domestic calls. I'll jot it down the next time I hear it.

    Default Out of province actions

I've been reading this thread, as I used to live in Ontario and got busted about 20 yrs ago and lost my unit. Obviously he read it and observed my car when he lit it from the rear.

In any event, I expect to be riving back east this summer [via Canada, as far as Quebec], and am curious if anyone knows how the OPP and other locals react when an out of province is stopped. I know that I can drive the 407 without fear of being charged to use it.

What happens if one gets a ticket and is guilty by absence?.. Does it get reported across the country? Or is merely confined to the province? I assuming a reasonable infraction such as 20k over..

From what I have read on this site, the STi is a winner, particularly in those ares where using it is illegal, but does it still stand head and shoulders over V1 or others everywhere?

Thanks for all the info to date..

    Charles..

Check with the Ontario MOT website. The Ontario MOT has a deal made with the state(s) of New York, Pennsylvinia and Michigan. Tickets there must be paid and points will apply in Ontario. I am not sure about other provinces but I am sure they have a deal made with Manitoba.

I doubt Quebec, because their laws is different from every else in the Country and usually back down to interprovincial regulations.
